A public interest petition filed against some verses quoted in Holy Book Quran

A public interest petition filed against some verses quoted in Holy Book Quran

Posted on December 11, 2020

A public interest petition has been filed before the Supreme Court against some verses in the Quran alleging them to be a global threat to humanity. The plea has contended these quotes and practices teach the young generation that it is religiously correct to “assassin and kill people of other faith especially the idol worshippers”.

According to the petitioner, a barbaric and brutal practice has been blatantly quoted in the holy book Quran and is followed in Muslim religion wherein it is taught to young generation that it is religiously correct to “assassin and kill people of other faith especially the idol worshippers”. This results in a huge threat and staunch apprehension for future generation of Hindu practitioners which is a violation of Right to life under Article 21 and Right to practice individual religion and faith under Article 25 and 26 of the Indian Constitution. This practice has been misused by malicious and clergy men to mislead young Muslims generation, provoking them to become radicals and terrorists resulting in the massacre of millions of innocents including Muslims also.

The petitioner has sought a direction to the Central or state government along with other institutions for monitoring and abolishing such practice and teaching as it is a direct volition of right to life of every citizen of the nation and casts huge apprehension to law and public order. It is the fundamental duty of the state to protect its citizens and no person should be permitted to take away someone else’s life under the umbrella of Article 25 and Article 26 of the Constitution.

“And when the forbidden months have passed, kill the polytheists wherever you find them and take them prisoners, and beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them at every place of ambush. But if they repent and observe Prayer and pay the Zakat, then leave their way free. Surely, Allah is Most Forgiving, Merciful.” – the plea quotes a verse from Quran

It is humbly submitted that the Constitution of India gives us the right to live, but the verse of the Quran considers other religion infidel for not accepting Islam, being polytheistic or being idolaters until others start giving zakat. If other religious practioners fail to do so then there is an apprehension of being killed.

According to the petitioner, the highly controversial statement of Quran that reads “Kafiro (Polytheist/ idolaters/ who don‟tbelieve in “Kalima”) Ko Maar Do” is followed by many Quran followers. The statement gives a legal permission to Muslim community to kill people of other religions and shows that one should obey Quran and if someone is not following it, then community of Quran followers can kill them. This teaching violates the right of fair education and right to life of the innocent Muslim child whose mind is getting polluted and mislead and this is highly apprehensive for the child’s mental health as he is being subjected to brutal violence from childhood.

The petitioner finds it highly unfortunate that no government till date has brought their focus on the quoting of Quran despite having strong evidence of how anti-social, terrorist and radical groups have been misusing this quote of Quran to mislead the Islamic youth and manipulating with their innocent brains leading them to become a terrorist. Therefore, strict restraint on such religious teaching is required so that future generations can live in peace and harmony.
